The Tour Returns for Year Three

The NAF Super Tour 2026 returned to Firestorm Games in Cardiff for its third year, bringing one of the most unique tournament experiences on the Welsh calendar. With 34 coaches in attendance, the venue was packed with painted teams, excited players, and plenty of themed chaos as the Old World tour rolled into town once again.

Unlike standard tournaments, the NAF Super Tour stands out thanks to its travelling theme, with each round representing a different stop across the Old World. From icy Norse lands to vampire haunted halls and warp twisted battlefields, every game introduced new rules, custom kick-off tables, and special themed balls that added an extra layer of unpredictability to the action.

It is a format that keeps players thinking on their feet and keeps spectators entertained throughout the weekend.

Touring the Old World

Across five rounds, coaches found themselves battling under wildly different conditions as each “leg of the tour” introduced new twists to the game.

From Norscan snow drifts and Khorne fuelled frenzy, to gnomish trickery and spooky undead interference, every round delivered memorable moments. Special balls added further flavour, with effects ranging from granting Frenzy to ball carriers to causing unpredictable bounces, and even the occasional smashed pumpkin.

The themed rounds proved to be a major highlight of the weekend, with players embracing the chaos and adapting strategies on the fly.

Format & Gameplay

Teams were built using generous skill packages and tiered rosters, allowing plenty of creativity in team design. Star players were permitted, with the notable exception of bombers, encouraging bold builds and diverse team selections across the field.

The event followed standard resurrection rules, meaning each round started fresh. With five games across two days, consistency was key, and endurance became just as important as tactical skill.

Round by Round Highlights

One of the standout features of the NAF Super Tour is the themed rounds, each bringing its own flavour, special rules, and sometimes outright chaos to the pitch.

Round 1 – Norsca Mayhem

The tour kicked off in the frozen north, using the Norsca Kick-Off Table alongside the Cursed Khornate Ball, which granted Frenzy to anyone brave enough to carry it.

Early chaos included Pitchside Brawls, leaving stunned players scattered across the field, and Reckless Rookies, where unexpected Norse linemen charged onto the pitch mid-drive. The Frenzy-granting ball led to some aggressive play right from the start, with several players surfing opponents into the crowd.

Round 2 – After Dark in Sylvania

The second leg of the tour moved into vampire territory, bringing the eerie After Dark Kick-Off Table and the mighty Hammer of Legend Ball.

Some players struggled to even lift the ball, as only the worthy could carry it without issue. Highlights included falling chandeliers stunning line players, surprise Stab actions from hidden wooden stakes, and injured players being miraculously returned to reserves thanks to helpful thralls.

Round 3 – Khorne Unleashed

Things escalated quickly as the tour moved into the domain of Khorne. The Khornate Kick-Off Table combined with the unpredictable Brain Ball created one of the most brutal rounds of the weekend.

Players found themselves unable to be sent off for fouling, while crowd pushes became even deadlier thanks to injury modifiers. The Brain Ball added further madness, sometimes granting Dodge, Frenzy, or even Really Stupid to whoever carried it.

As expected, this round saw a noticeable spike in casualties.

Round 4 – Spooky Sylvania Returns

The fourth leg leaned into the undead theme with the Spooky Skull Kick-Off Table and the powerful Runestone Ball.

Players were slowed by grasping zombie hands, spooked by ghosts, and occasionally joined by temporary zombie linemen climbing out of graves mid-drive. Meanwhile, the Runestone Ball made passing more difficult but rewarded brutal contact, encouraging a more physical style of play.

Round 5 – Gnomish Trickery Finale

The final round transported coaches into a mystical forest filled with trickery, portals, and unpredictability. The Gnomish Trickery Kick-Off Table paired with the fragile Pumpkin Ball delivered a fittingly chaotic finale.

Players were teleported across the pitch through magical portals, swapped positions mid-drive, and occasionally knocked down by badgers disguised as balls. At times, the Pumpkin Ball even smashed entirely, forcing the referee to introduce a fresh ball mid-play.

It was a suitably wild conclusion to a brilliantly themed weekend.

Spot Prizes & Extra Fun

One of the standout features of the weekend was the fantastic range of spot prizes, which at times felt almost better than winning the tournament itself.

The fun started right from registration, where coaches were greeted with a spin-the-wheel prize draw while signing in. This was a great way to kick things off, with players already picking up goodies before the first dice had even been rolled.

Throughout the weekend, spot prizes kept everyone engaged, rewarding memorable moments as much as match results. Coaches could win prizes for pulling off spectacular plays, suffering terrible luck, or simply embracing the chaos that the themed rounds created.

Among the ways to win were:

  • Surfing an opponent into the crowd
  • Snaking a crucial Rush at the worst possible moment
  • Rolling double skulls into double skulls
  • Being the first coach to score using the Gnome Portals
  • And plenty of other amusing and thematic moments across the weekend

These spot prizes added a constant buzz around the room, with players cheering on unlikely plays and laughing at disastrous dice rolls. It helped create a relaxed, fun atmosphere where even the worst luck could still earn you something to take home.

They were a brilliant addition to the event, and judging by the reactions around the room, definitely something players will be hoping to see return in future Super Tours.

With returning veterans and newer players alike, the event showcased exactly what makes the Welsh Blood Bowl scene so strong. Competitive, creative, and always good fun.

Welsh Tournament Series Impact

The NAF Super Tour 2026 also played an important role in the wider Welsh Tournament Series, with valuable ranking points on the line across the five rounds.

With five games spread across the weekend, this event offered one of the bigger opportunities for coaches to climb the leaderboard. Strong performances here could make a real difference in the overall standings, particularly for those chasing the top spots as the series continues.

As always, it was great to see a mix of regular Welsh series players alongside visitors from further afield, all contributing to the competitive but friendly atmosphere that defines the Welsh scene.

Final Thoughts

The NAF Super Tour 2026 once again delivered a brilliant weekend of Blood Bowl, cementing its reputation as one of the most creative and entertaining events on the calendar. With imaginative rules, strong attendance, and fantastic community spirit, it is easy to see why this tournament continues to grow year after year.

A huge thank you must go to Chris (Fated) for organising another fantastic NAF Super Tour weekend.

Events like this do not happen by accident, and it is clear that a huge amount of time, planning, and effort went into making the weekend run as smoothly as it did. From the creative themed rounds and custom kick-off tables to the brilliant spot prizes and overall atmosphere, Chris once again delivered an event that players will be talking about for a long time.

Running a two-day event of this size is no small task, and the work that goes on behind the scenes often goes unnoticed. The Welsh Blood Bowl scene is incredibly lucky to have dedicated organisers like Chris putting in the effort to keep events like this running year after year.

Here is hoping the Old World tour rolls on again next year, and we are already looking forward to the next destination.
